Half-Life Decal Gallery

In the following pages, you will find a collection of images prepared for use as "decals" in Half-Life multiplayer games. All of these images have been converted to the appropriate format by the Decal Bazaar, generally using the procedure described in the decal tutorial.

The artwork depicted here comes from various sources, including "clip-art" found on the internet and icons and images found in magazines and other print media. If you find artwork on this site which was created by or belongs to you, and would like it to be removed from this site, please contact me at decalbazaar@rattlebrain.com and you will be promptly obliged.

Obtaining Decals from the Gallery

The images in the gallery are not the decal bitmaps themselves, but GIF files which represent them. The actual bitmaps are linked to by the GIF files. Depending on your browser, you may simply be able to click on the desired image to download it, in which case you will be prompted with a "Save As..." dialogue box. You may also be able to select Save Target As... from a context menu (right-click in Windows) to access the bitmap. If your browser prompts to save as a GIF, you may be trying to save the displayed file. If you are have difficulties obtaining the bitmaps, you may contact me at decalbazaar@rattlebrain.com and I will try to help you.

All downloadable bitmaps in the gallery are 64x64 pixel greyscale bitmaps and are about 5.1K in size. This is the format used by Half-Life for the multiplayer decals.

How to Use Your Decal
Once you have selected your decal or decals, you will need to place them where Half-Life can find them. In order for the program to recognize the decals, you have to place them in the Half-Life/Logos directory, or X:/ThisFolder/Logos where X is the letter of your hard drive, and ThisFolder is the directory Half-Life is in on your hard drive.

To select your decal to be used in the game, from the Half-Life main menu, select Multiplayer, then Customize. This is the screen which allows you to indicate your multiplayer handle, player graphic model and colors, and most importantly, your decal. Scroll through the selectable decals by clicking Previous and Next below the box which displays the active decal. The program will display all the valid bitmaps in your Half-Life/Logos directory (including the default decals included with the game, if you have not removed them). You can also select the color that your decal will be displayed in via the pull-down menu adjacent to the display box. Click Done, and the decal you selected will be available in the next game you join.

To use your logo in the multiplayer game, press the key mapped to Spray Logo in your Half-Life control configuration. The default key is T.
